4 Shows and Keytar
Wichita Kansas, home of Dave K and the Linesight
gang, we were blessed to be in their company at the beginning of this tour,
if you are ever in the neighborhood of Wichita stop by and check out the gallery,
Dave will be the one with the "Keytar" the words keyboard and guitar
combined for you of less knowledge, and if you need any web stuff done be sure
to contact them. So the tour started off on a foot, not the right foot or the
left foot, just a foot, unifoot, "the words uni and foot combined for those
of you not in the know, as always the tour is defined not by the people we meet
and the shows we play but by the searingly long drives and and lack of sleep.
We started with Wichita, that was great fun, we then drove to Kansas City, and
played Davey's Uptown,
that was fun too, I forgot what it was like to not smoke in the midwest, I guess
I have just turned into a big weeny due to the haze of cigarette smoke and the
people that enjoy letting me have some of theirs, second hand, I was once in
a {name withheld}study that required us to quit smoking, ({name withheld} being
the place where mere humans were turned into guinea pigs for obscure studies
involving blood being sucked out of your arm in mass quantities every 5 stinking
minutes.) us being Mr. Forshage
and myself, both of us heavy smokers, and every weekend they would check us
for signs of smoking in our blood stream, first they would check for carbon
monoxide, a lovely thing found in both cigarette smoke and car exhaust, so when
they found an extremely high amount in my blood I would just lie and say that
I was mowing my lawn, or stuck in traffic behind a bus or attempting to off
myself by hanging out in the garage, car running and the door closed, they fell
for it every time, and when of course they did finally catch up to the long
string of bull, they checked my blood for the chemical compound of processed
nicotine, that being some word I forgot, I would just tell them I was on the
patch, pretty sneaky I was. Anyway back to the tour, Davey's was fun, I chatted
with Todd who recorded the show and Chad who ran sound and informed me of a
large amount of old Hi-Fi stuff I had no idea existed, thank you, afterward
Ian took off to go dancing with some girls and I, as the lame o went back to
the hotel to go to sleep. The next day we got up approximately 25 minutes after
I fell asleep, to drive from K.C. to Chicago, in other words, a really long
stinking drive to do the day of the gig, we got there and the band that was
playing the late show (Schuba's
much like a bunch of other clubs like to offset the evening by booking 2 headlining
acts, so like us, early, clear out everyone, and another act, that way they
can rip off not just one but two artists in one night) were sound checking,
late may I add they were supposed to be done by 6 and it was already 6:40 so
the only thing I have to say about those fucks is grow up, get your shit together
and go to hell indie rock shitty sounding assholes, the bands name was "the
young people" no capitalization, they don't deserve it. Our show was fun,
it was rockin, there were a 107 people there, (that was a tribute to Wesley
Willis, who died a few months back, he used to give reviews of bands that
played by rapping over the sound of a casio keyboard drum machine He was rockin).
We took off after the show to catch the Turin
Brakes at Martyrs in Chicago, Ray the owner was so super cool to let us
in, so a big shout out to Ray, I like the. Afterward we took off to get to Tim's
house, Tim is Ian's manager, and he lives wayyyy out in the burbs, I like to
think that if you live between the city and the airport you live in the burbs,
but if you live 20 miles outside of the airport you live rural. When we finally
got there we got our stuff out of the van and the alarm went off, for some dumb
reason the van's alarm arms itself and goes off after 30 seconds or so, handy
if you get out and get your stuff out of the back, and by the time you close
the door the alarm goes off, triggered by the action of closing doors, handy.
We fell asleep, got up and drove for yet again a long time, played the Beachland
Ballroom to a stiff group of people who came out to see John
Hammond play the blues not Ian Moore play slow rock, it was a fun show,
there were a 120 people there, it was rockin, afterward we stuck around to see
The Deathray Davies
play who rock, anyone who has a theremin player, rocks even if they can't play
it, which of course is almost everyone who has a theremin. They had lots of
cool lights and they were cool. We ended up staying out at Cynthia and Mark's
place out on the lake, super cool, Mark collects records, a whole lot of them,
so much that he has them stored in and on everything available, I have got to
watch myself, pretty soon I too could have records stored in my bathroom. So
this was my long winded post of the past couple of days, we are off today, and
we are in Cleveland, not much happens in Cleveland let alone on a sunday, so
I am typing mindless gibberish for you lovely folks out there in internet land,
its not like I wouldn't type if I had something better to do like go wander
around, so happy sunday.

I recived an email requesting that the name of the company in reference be removed being as the nature of the post did not shed the kindest light on the company. That and the person requesting the removal of said post seemed to have a sense of humour, or maybe I just found it funny that they had to put the "Death to ye scarvy spam pirates" heading on a rather professional email, either way it is done
